Issue Position

This year is a crucial time in our history. If the choices made in November are wrong we could set our country back centuries. In some states, steps have already been taken in that direction. It is time that we fortify ourselves to be more positive, yet assertive; forging ahead toward keeping and improving upon this great country. Technology is thrusting us forward at an accelerated pace and along with it our interactions with and influences upon others have expanded; sometimes for good, sometimes not so good.

Caring about others in what we legislate is vital. Every bill which becomes law affects the lives of the people. I am a candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives. As a nurse I have cared for others all of my adult life. My campaign is based on Putting People First. In every legislative action I will look for its impact on the people; physically, mentally, environmentally and financially. If elected I will be requesting to be on the following committees; Health and Human Services, Education, Agricultural, Commerce & Job Development; Environment, and Public Utilities.

There is no time for "standing your ground" nor "my way or no way". Now as never before, it is time for bipartisan cooperation.

As NC Representative for District 4, I pledge to:
COMMUNICATE WITH THE PEOPLE - WHAT ARE YOUR NEEDS, DESIRES, AND CONCERNS FOR YOUR FAMILIES, YOUR COMMUNITY AND YOUR STATE. I WILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO YOU; GETTING YOUR VIEWS AND CONCERNS ON ISSUES BEFORE VOTING.

WORK HARD TO BRING JOBS TO THE COUNTY. I WILL INVESTIGATE THE BARRIERS TO JOB CREATION AND WORK TO ELIMINATE THEM.

WORK TO ADEQUATELY FUND EDUCATION -- EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO PROSPERITY, TO PREPAREDNESS FOR COMPETING IN A GLOBAL ECONOMY. I WILL ENCOURAGE PARTNERSHIPS AND HELP TO CONNECT OUR SCHOOLS TO RESOURCES WHICH WILL EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES AND FOSTER FURTHER PROGRESS.

FIGHT TO RESTORE TRUST IN OUR GOVERNMENT; BY ETHICAL, HONEST, TRANSPARENT AND COOPERATIVE ACTION. I WILL BE OPEN AND HONEST WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES, KEEPING YOU INFORMED OF WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE LEGISLATURE.
